What did Lara Morgan sell first?

Lara Morgan, founder of Pacific Direct

Lara Morgan, founder of Pacific Direct, speaking with podcast host Aleksandra King on The BEYOND Podcast. Lara Morgan says there were no jobs in 1991, so she made one selling sewing kits and shower caps, and took them to the Dorchester on her grandmother's advice.

Aleksandra King, the host, asks whether there was a moment Lara Morgan decided to scale the business, and the answer is that she was not thinking that far ahead. She goes back to the year she started out and the job she made for herself.

It was 1991 and there were no jobs, so I had to make a job.

On the way back she worked out how many kits and caps it would take to make anything, and the answer was disappointing compared with where she had been. She meant to keep at it for a while, with no experience to draw on.
